Let’s face it: Your Easter dinner might not be as perfect as Martha Stewart’s. It’s OK! You can at least steal her tips for the big day.

Ham and lamb are classic Easter dishes. Do you have any good tricks for cooking each?

It is getting more difficult to find delicious smoked ham with the bone in, but it’s worth trying. Every year, I get my ham from Pat LaFrieda and cook it very slowly in a parchment-lined foil package for the prescribed amount of time. I remove most of the fat layer, score through the remaining fat layer and glaze in a 300-degree oven. Mix about a cup of Cognac with a one-pound box of dark brown sugar to get a delicious, crunchy layer.

For Easter, I also love to make a leg of lamb that is studded all over with cloves of garlic and sprigs of fresh rosemary and thyme. Roast your lamb in the oven at 375 degrees until the skin is crackling. Remove from the oven and let rest for at least half an hour before carving.

What are some good activities for kids who are too old for coloring and Easter egg hunts?

You’re never too old for a really good Easter egg hunt. A treasure Easter egg hunt with difficult clues can make the day. Hide treasures with the eggs and even adults will get in the action.

What’s an easy Easter centerpiece?

Colored hard boiled eggs atop a bed of real hay is always a great go-to.
