Shopaholics rejoice: Is shopping your new cardio?
Next time someone calls you out for shopping too much, tell them you’re doing it to stay fit.
Shopaholics rejoice! A new study revealed that women burn up to 15,000 calories every year while walking around shopping for birthday gifts, or for a new pair of jeans, a dress or a handbag.
According to the study, British women walk on average 180 miles per year while shopping. That’s equal to seven marathons.
There’s a catch, though. The study also found that most women snack while out shopping, some even taking in more than 1,000 calories.
The survey, which was conducted by Walls Solero Exotic, revealed that despite the growth in online shopping, 58 percent would be encouraged to hit the shops instead of the web if it was counted as a workout.
So no more excuses about not working out, all you have to do is go shopping; even if it’s just window shopping.
