IKEA has voluntarily recalled 169,000 high chairs in the U.S. and Canada, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada.
The ANTILOP high chair, sold at IKEA stores for $19.99 from August 2006 to January 2010, has a faulty restraint buckle that can open unexpectedly. Ikea has received eight complaints of children falling, including three that involved minor injuries.
133,000 chairs were sold in the U.S. and 36,000 in Canada. The plastic seats were red, blue or white with detachable metal legs. Consumers are advised to stop using the chair immediately and contact Ikea for a free replacement safety strap.
Ikea also recalled 2,200 wardrobe mirror doors in November due to a laceration hazard, children's folding tents in October due to risk of serious injury, coffee makers from March through October due to burn and laceration hazard and cribs from February through August due to a risk of collapse that could cause entrapment and suffocation.
