While SWAT teams hunted for ex-Marine and spree killer Bradley William Stone into the evening of Dec. 15, 2014 outside Pennsburg in Montgomery County, a Bucks County man told police a man resembling Stone tried to steal his car keys and fled into the woods more than an hour away.

That man, Luke Sanderlin, 34, pleaded guilty Monday to false reporting charges, reports say.

Stone was found dead in the woods near Pennsburg on Dec. 16.

Sanderlin, who is currently in custody, could face up to eight years in prison.

Sanderlin’s lawyer told the Inquirer his client, who will undergo mental health screening, may have been approached by a man who resembled Stone.
