A report released today by an online dating website shows that Boston men are putting their money where their heart is this Valentine’s season.

According to WhatsYourPrice.com, a site that lets its members bid for a first date, Boston accounted for 2,474 first-date offers during the four-week period before Valentine’s Day.

Over the past month, men paid an average of $131.70 for a first date, which is 62 percent higher than the website’s annual average of $80.

“Our study revealed that as Valentine’s Day neared, both the number of offers and the average first date price steadily increased,” said Brandon Wade, the website’s CEO. “Offering money for a first date is rather unconventional in the dating world, but it proves that Valentine’s Day is as important a holiday for singles as it is for couples.”

A total of 369,282 first date offers were made across the nation, according to the site.
