Every job has occupational hazards.

A dancer has sued Philadelphia gentleman’s club Delilah’s Den for more than $50,000 in damages after she cut off her thumb while performing on an allegedly faulty piece of equipment, as first reported by Dana DiFilippo of The Daily News.

Roxborough woman Sarah Berry, 35, says she was practicing for Delilah’s annual Diamond G String Competition by performing an aerial maneuver on what the suit calls “a piece of aerial apparatus known as a ‘half moon,’” which was allegedly designed and created exclusively for the club to use in the contest.

According to the complaint filed on Friday, Berry was using the half moon “in its intended and foreseeable manner” in July of 2011 when her right thumb was permanently amputated, reportedly sliced by a sharp edge of the metal equipment. The suit alleges the half moon was poorly-designed and not properly manufactured, inspected or tested.

Berry is seeking compensation for past and future medical bills and wage loss, as well as damages for pain, suffering disfigurement, embarrassment and humiliation.
