Philadelphia University security officers will rally today

Philadelphia University security officers will hold a rally this afternoon protesting McGinn Security, which employs 50 guards at the East Falls college.

Officers and advocates will gather at 3 p.m. to demand better pay and working conditions. They say McGinn has already received citations from the U.S. Department of Labor for failing to pay minimum wage and continues to mistreat Philadelphia University security officers.

The rally at Schoolhouse Lane and Henry Avenue is being organized by property services union 32 BJ, which has about 10,000 Philadelphia-area members and would likely represent the officers, were they to formally organize during their fight for improved working conditions.
