Man wanted for rape caught jumping subway turnstile

A man who broke into a woman’s house and raped her last August was arrested Tuesday after a police officer caught him jumping a subway turnstile in Queens, police said.

Officer Timothy Russo spotted a man attempting to evade payment at the Archer Avenue and Parsons Boulevard subway station in Queens on Tuesday afternoon, according to police. The officer, who had just graduated from the Police Academy in January, placed the man under arrest. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect was wanted for rape.

Kenny Campbell, 30, allegedly broke into a woman’s house in August 2012, strangled her with an electrical cord and raped her. He has been charged with rape and theft of service.
