A technology news website is reporting that the person who is likely responsible for hacking both Burger King’s and Jeep’s Twitter accounts is a New England-based DJ who performs in both Boston and Providence.

Tony “iThug” Cunha is the person named as the likely hacker in the Gizmodo.com report.

The report follows a trail that begins with the shout outs made on Burger King’s hacked account and then relies on Twitter and Facebook posts to lead to Cunha. It also relies on Cunha’s notaritay as a former member of the Defonic Team Screen Name Club, which hacked Paris Hilton’s Sidekick years ago.

Gizmodo also points to telling Facebook posts by Cunha and how his Facebook page has been taken down and personal Twitter account has been suspended.

The report calls Cunha an “esteemed former hacker of MySpace pages.”

So far no one has been charged in the hacks, which earned national attention Monday and caused some other companies like BET and MTV to stunt hack to earn publicity.
