Be it “gourmet”, or “every day,”  Southie’s townies and yuppies now have a one-stop shop for buying groceries.

On Saturday, Foodie’s Market opened a new location on C Street and West Broadway in South Boston. New customers were rewarded with free hot dogs, samples, reusable bags and sales.

According to city officials, the $3 million market is thanks to a $1.4 million investment by the City of Boston’s Office of Business Development. The money was made possible by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding, and will create more than 40 new jobs in Boston, officials said.

“This new Foodie’s Market in South Boston is a great example of how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is directly benefiting our neighborhoods,” Menino said. “These funds help support people like the Leon family have been so committed to the city of Boston for more than a decade. We thank the Leon family for investing in the future of this community, and congratulate everyone who worked so hard to make this West Broadway store a reality.”

Foodie’s Market has operated a location in the South End for 14 years. The South Boston market is located in an expanded, previously vacant 7,700-square foot storefront at 240 West Broadway.
