A Green Line trolley struck a car that was crossing the tracks at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Pleasant Street in Brighton around 8 p.m. Monday night.

Police cited Ridouane Amallah, 36, of Cambridge for failing to yield to the trolley. He told police he was driving on the Green Line tracks when his car was struck by the outbound trolley.

His car’s airbag system deployed, but Amallah told police that he was not hurt and declined medical treatment. The front side of his car was damaged, and towed from the scene.

“There is no traffic control device at the intersection and trolleys have the right of way. There is a conspicuously posted sign that reads ‘Yield to Trolley,’” Transit Police said.

The trolley driver was “shaken up,” according to police, and was taken to Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center by Boston EMS. A trolley passenger complained of dizziness, but was not transported. However, another passenger was taken to Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center after reporting a headache.

The point of impact on the trolley was the draw bar and there was no apparent damage to the trolley, police said.

Service resumed on the Green Line shortly after the accident.
