Metro Boston to compete in ‘Pour the Perfect Pint’ to benefit local firefighters

Complimentary pints of Guinness will be handed out at the "Pour the Perfect Pint" competition.
Complimentary pints of Guinness will be handed out at the “Pour the Perfect Pint” competition.

On Thursday, this Metro Boston reporter will join Guinness in saluting local firefighters by kicking glass in the “Pour the Perfect Pint” competition.

Boston Firefighters and local media will be judged on their ability to pour a perfect pint of Guinness – a notoriously tricky task, but a coveted skill in a city that takes beer as seriously as St. Paddy’s Day.

The winner – a.k.a., @MetroMorgan - will have $2,000 donated in their name to a local firehouse of their choice. The money will help supply equipment, technology and training for firefighters. The Thursday night contest kicks off a month-long partnership between Guinness and the Leary Firefighters Foundation to honor, recognize and support local fire fighters who continually put their lives on the line for others.

The pour-off will kick off at 6 p.m. at Dillon’s on Boylston Street. Guests will get complimentary pints of Guinness until 8 p.m.
