Plymouth mom sues FedEx over pot delivery

A woman from Plymouth is suing FedEx, claiming the shipping company gave out her home address after accidentally delivering seven pounds of marijuana.

Maryangela Tobin says when she received the package, she thought it contained a birthday present for her daughter. Once she discovered the drugs, she called Plymouth police, who took possession of the box.

About an hour later, a man knocked on her door and demanded the package.

Tobin’s lawsuit alleges FedEx violated Massachusetts privacy laws by disclosing her address to a third party. Although police made an arrest, Tobin says her family is in danger, since the intended recipients of the drugs know where she lives.

“I feel like the safety of my daughters and myself was invaded and it makes things complicated,” Tobin told CBS Boston. “If you’ve ever been in a position of being so scared in your home and having something like that happen. I walk into my house first every time, my kids don’t.”

FedEx refused a request for comment made by the Associated Press, saying it doesn’t discuss pending lawsuits.
