Archbishop Ryan High School and Holy Family University announced a partnership today that would allow high school students an opportunity to take college-level classes.

“Today we are partnering two pillars of Catholic education in Northeast Philadelphia,” said Bishop Michael Fitzgerald, who oversees education for the archdiocese.

Officials from both schools stood together in the auditorium of the Northeast Philadelphia high school and detailed the partnership:

  • Ryan Students are eligible to take dual-credit classes at Holy Family and “earn university credits that satisfy their high school graduation requirements,” according to a news release.
  • Students who graduate with a 2.5 GPA or higher are eligible for admission to Holy Family and the application fees will be waived.
  • Also, grants are available and admission fees will be waved for Ryan teachers, administrators, staff and employees willing to enroll in undergraduate or graduate courses or degree programs at Holy Family.

Ryan President Michael McArdle said high school students would also benefit from advice from college admissions specialists and exposure to the rigorous academic standards before students start their college careers.
