Police: Man gets into cockpit at Philadelphia airport
Police said a Frenchman somehow entered the cockpit of a US Airways plane set for take-off at Philadelphia International Airport on Wednesday evening.
Philippe Jernnard, 61, of La Rochelle, France, was arrested after US Airways crew members found him inside the plane’s cockpit about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Jernnard faces a host of charges, from local and federal agencies, relating to his allegedly impersonating a pilot.
The 61-year-old French national reportedly was found to be in possession of a counterfeit Air France identification card. He was wearing a shirt with the Air France logo on it when he boarded the plane bound for West Palm Beach, Fla., as a ticketed passenger at the Philadelphia airport, police said.
Jernnard had to be escorted from the plane after he became argumentative with the crew after he was discovered sitting in the cockpit, in the jump seat behind the pilot, according to reports.
