As reported here earlier, today is the day for Earth Hour, when participants are advised to turn off their power from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, all to raise awareness of global warming and energy conservation.

Over 7,000 cities in 152 countries are participating in the event, which began in Australia in 2007. In New York City, the Empire State Building will spend the hour sans lights.

As we await our chance to join in, it’s worth checking in on how other cities have contributed. Following are snapshots of how going without electricity for 60 entire minutes has gone for other countries.
