VIDEO: Police release footage showing hit-and-run of off-duty officer
Philadelphia police have released video footage of a driver who struck an off-duty police officer early Wednesday morning during a hit-and-run on the 2300 block of East Cumberland Street in Fishtown.
The 28-year-old officer, who was hit shortly after 2 a.m., is hospitalized in critical but stable condition with a deep head laceration.
The vehicle is described as a newer model black or dark-colored four-door Lincoln MKS with minor damage to the passenger side windshield and a possible dented hood.
It was last seen traveling east on Cumberland Street toward Aramingo Avenue.
Police on Wednesday afternoon released more graphic video showing the actual impact of the crash, but removed it several hours later.
