A Philadelphia police officer is recovering after a driver allegedly struck him in Kensington Sunday night, then dragged him under the car for three blocks.
Police said the officer was on patrol near G and Westmoreland streets when shortly before 7:30 p.m he heard a person screaming.
As the officer was investigating, the driver of a green Marquis allegedly hit the accelerator, striking the officer and dragging him for three blocks.
The officer suffered scrapes, cuts and lower back pain. He was taken to Episcopal Hospital, where he’s expected to be treated and released.
Investigators said several of the vehicle’s occupants were arrested. Their identities have not yet been released.
