Banned: The parents who wanted to call their child ‘Anal’
Officials in New Zealand have prevented parents from calling their new born baby ‘Anal’, according to a list of names they have banned, released today.
Another family wanted to register their child’s first name as “.” – or Full Stop. Officials in Auckland soon put paid to that.
Other names that were banned in 2012 were 4Real, V8 and Queen Victoria.
New Zealand issues a similar list each year. The annual ritual first caught public attention in 2008 when officials prevented a couple from calling their daughter Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii, on the grounds that it would make a fool of the child. At the time, other efforts rejected were Number 16 Bus Shelter and Midnight Chardonnay.
This year, parents have also tried to register their children as mere numbers – officials turned down efforts to register children as 2nd, 3rd or 5th
