Report: N.J. Gov. Chris Christie had secret weight loss surgery
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie three months ago had secret bariatric weight-loss surgery, according to a report from The New York Post.
The governor told the paper he underwent a lap-band stomach procedure in February to boost his health for the sake of his wife and children.
Christie reportedly checked into a surgery center under a false name on Feb. 16.
He has since lost 40 pounds, the Post reports.
Christie also told the paper the sudden slim-down wasn’t spurred by a possible 2016 presidential bid.
“I know it sounds crazy to say that running for president is minor, but in the grand scheme of things, it was looking at Mary Pat and the kids and going, ‘I have to do this for them, even if I don’t give a crap about myself,’” he said.
