JetBlue now flying Philly to Boston
JetBlue Airways on Thursday began five daily flights between Philadelphia and Boston.
The airline’s first-ever Philadelphia to Boston flight was scheduled to take off at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, about two hours after its first Boston to Philly flight.
Philadelphia International Airport becomes New York-based JetBlue’s 78th overall destination city and 48th out of Boston’s Logan Airport.
“This is a great day for Philadelphia,” Mayor Michael Nutter said in a statement posted on the airline’s website. “JetBlue is a fine airline that has distinguished itself in the industry, and we are thrilled that travelers in the Philadelphia region can take advantage of JetBlue service with easy access to their flights. I want to acknowledge JetBlue for recognizing the value of doing business with the greater Philadelphia region and business community.”
To mark the occasion of its first flights to and from the City of Brotherly Love, JetBlue will donate 1,776 (get it?) books to Stonehurst Hills Elementary in Upper Darby and KenCrest Services, an infant/toddler home community program with 325 pre-K students with developmental disabilities located in Philadelphia.
It is also offering really cheap flights between Philadelphia and Boston, if you’re looking to get away.
