Man killed, woman injured in Brooklyn nightclub shooting
A man is dead and a woman wounded after a shooting erupted outside a nightclub in Brooklyn early Monday morning.
The man, 31, and the woman, 26, were shot in front of 1552 Ralph Ave. in Canarsie at approximately 2:15 a.m., police said.
Initially police said the woman, who sustained a gunshot wound to her knee, was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition. However, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly later reported that the woman was still at the hospital in critical condition.
The man had been shot several times, Kelly said. He was taken to Kings County Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
Kelly said that 14 9mm shell casings were found at the scene. The police believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute that started inside the club.
No arrests have been made, and Kelly said it’s “too early to say” who the police are looking for, but the investigation is moving forward. As of now, police believe the two victims did not know each other. It is not know whether either of them was involved in the dispute.
