Special Olympics and school district partner for soccer championship
On Friday, about 100 athletes will compete in an inaugural Unified Soccer Championship hosted through a partnership between Special Olympics Pennsylvania and the School District of Philadelphia, according to a news release.
The tournament will be held at Frankford Memorial Stadium, at the corner of Wakeling and Large streets, the release read.
Opening ceremonies are set to begin at 9:45 a.m.
“The championship features teams from 10 Philadelphia high schools from across the city including: Abraham Lincoln, Edward Bok, Frankford, George Washington, High School of the Future, Northeast, Samuel Fels, Thomas Edison, Boy’s Latin and University City High School,” according to the release.
