Philly man arrested for alleged Bensalem bank robbery
Bensalem Detectives arrested a Philadelphia man Tuesday night for allegedly robbing a bank in Bensalem Monday afternoon.
Investigators said 42-year-old Nicholas Giorno Jr., of the 1200 block of Poquessing Creek Road in Somerton, was taken into custody at a motel in New Jersey.
He was on Wednesday detained in the Garden State as he awaited extradition to Bucks County.
Police said Giorno Jr. entered the TD Bank at 2751 Street Rd. in Bensalem shortly after noon.
He allegedly slipped tellers a demand note and implied he had a handgun and “would start shooting,” but never displayed a weapon.
Giorno Jr. fled on food with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to authorities.
Surveillance camera footage caught images of the bank robber, and Bensalem Township Police allegedly identified the suspect as Giorno Jr.
A warrant for armed robbery and related offenses was issued and Bensalem Detectives began searching for the man.
Investigators said they’re looking into the possibility Giorno Jr. may have been involved in other robberies in the area.
