A Norton babysitter was found guilty Thursday of abusing the young girl she sat for.

The Attleboro Sun Chronicle reports that Crystal Goodis, 33, created “a house of horrors,” including wearing horror movie-style costumes and playing scary movies to terrify the girl, 4, and her brother, 3 when she served as their babysitter.

“This woman created her own house of horrors at their home in Norton,” prosecutor Karin Welker said in court.

Now 8 and 6, the children stood up in court yesterday to testify against Crystal, claiming she physically abused them on the first day she babysat, and also touched them inappropriately.

Paula Plouffe, defense attorney for Goodis, suggested to the court that the girl learned the behavior from someone else, and that the children possibly blamed Goodis because they favored a previous, younger babysitter.

When questioned by her lawyer about the claims, Goodis said “Absolutely not. I would never do anything like that, ever. I’m not the type of person who could do anything like that,” the Sun reports.

Goodis was acquitted of assault and battery on the 3-year-old brother.

She was sentenced to serve 18 months of a two-and-a-half-year jail sentence, followed by 20 years’ probation. She must undergo therapy and stay away from children, including her own niece and nephews.
