The FDNY and the NYPD are reporting an emergency landing by a helicopter in the Hudson River at 79th Street. The 911 call came in around 11:58 a.m., officials said.

The helicopter was carrying four tourists from Sweden: two teenagers and two adults, cops said. All four passengers and the pilot were rescued and are safe. No injuries were reported, and they all declined receiving further medical attention after being brought to EMT personnel on shore.

Police report that the helicopter, a privately-owned Bell 206 L4, lost engine power during flight. The pilot was able to conduct a “controlled landing” in the Hudson River at 79th Street, keeping the helicopter upright in the water.

The Coast Guard reported that the tourists and pilot deployed the emergency flotation device on board the helicopter.

NYPD Harbor Patrol responded to the scene and rescued the passengers and pilot, bringing them safely to the marina at 79th Street and Riverside Drive, cops said.

The fire department initially said that it appeared that the passengers and pilot were taken to shore on a jet ski “or another water apparatus” not affiliated with the FDNY.

The Coast Guard said the NYPD secured the helicopter in the 79th Street Boat Basin. The NYPD will be leading the investigation.
