Three people arrested for allegedly stealing car from auto shop
Delaware State Police arrested three people early Sunday morning for allegedly stealing a car from the Benchmark Transmission auto repair shop, located at 2610 Philadelphia Pk. in Claymont.
Investigators said troopers responded shortly before 2:15 a.m. to a report of suspicious people sitting in a vehicle parked in front of the shop.
Officers allegedly found sitting inside the vehicle Victor Peeples Jr., 20, of Marcus Hook; Sylvester Rogers, 21, of Chester; and an unidentified Claymont juvenile, 16, whose identity is not being released due to his age.
Authorities said they were quickly able to determine all three men broke into the auto shop through a window and removed nine set of keys from inside.
The men allegedly used the keys to access the car in which they were found.
All three suspects were arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, attempted motor vehicle theft, second-degree conspiracy, theft under $1,500 and criminal mischief under $1,000.
Peeples and Rogers were committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $4,100 secured bail, while the juvenile was committed the New Castle County Detention Center on $4,100 secured bail.
