Prosecutors on Sunday formally charged Erika Williams, 28, with allegedly striking four people in Oxford Circle Saturday night during what police said was a DUI crash.
Investigators said Williams was speeding down the 900 block of Anchor Street when, shortly before 11 p.m., a ball rolled into the roadway, causing her to jump the curb and strike a 2-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, their 36-year-old mother and a second woman, 33.
he 5-year-old child was still listed in critical condition Monday after suffering a severe leg injury.
Williams was arrested Saturday on suspicion of DUI and transported to the Police Detention Unit to undergo testing.
She was arraigned at 8:15 p.m. Sunday night and charged with four counts each of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI and reckless endangerment; three counts of simple assault; two counts of simple assault in which the victim was under 12 and the defendant over 21; and one count each of DUI, criminal mischief and possession of an instrument of crime.
Williams remained jailed Monday in lieu of 10 percent of $40,000 bail.
She is next due in court July 24 for a preliminary hearing.
