A New Hampshire landscaper was in the right place at the right time when he saved the life of a young Windham boy who was drowning in a swimming pool.

Matt Pulomena was working at a Windham home when he heard a splash followed by a woman’s harrowing scream. He ran over to find the woman carrying her son out of the pool, WHDH reports. He was not breathing at the time.

“She started screaming, ‘Help, help, help, help’ so I just looked up and she had her son, Connor, over her shoulder and I just took off and hopped the fence and then he was laid down on the ground, on their deck,” Pulomena told WHDH.

It was then that Pulomena went into action.

“I just flipped him over, checked for his circulation and if he was breathing and there was neither of the two so I just started compressions. It was probably the fifth or sixth round of compressions that he – water and stuff started coming up, out of his nose and his mouth and then it was probably one more round of CPR and he took that breath,” said Pulomena.

The boy was taken to Eliot Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. There is no word on his current condition.
