At least eight injured in South Philadelphia building collapse
Police are investigating a building collapse in the Whitman section of South Philadelphia that injured at least eight people Monday morning.
Investigators said at least three houses on the 400 block of Daly Street collapsed shortly after 11 a.m.
So far, eight people have been reported injured, two of them reportedly children, in the collapse with one in critical condition, according to Philadelphia police.
The victims’ identities and conditions have not yet been released.
There is not yet word on the cause of the collapse, though some outlets are reporting it may have been sparked by an explosion.
Authorities are asking the public to stay away from Jackson and Snyder streets between Third and Fourth streets, as well as the 400 block of Daly Street.
