Churchgoers’ cars struck by bullets in Chester
At least five vehicles were struck with bullets outside a Chester church Sunday afternoon.
The gunfire happened about 4 p.m. at Grace Church of God in Christ, at 22nd Street and Edgemont Avenue, which was being rented for a service by Tabernacle Transformation, 6ABC Action News reports.
It was the first time Tabernacle Transformation rented the church building for its service.
No one was injured in the hail of bullets, which blasted out cars’ windows and flattened tires.
The church’s pastor, Jose Ortiz, told Action News the cars may not have been the intended target, as a gunman may have been aiming at a man running through the church parking lot and using the vehicles for cover. He also indicated Tabernacle Transformation intends to hold to its plan to host a service there again next Sunday.
