A New Hampshire man is due  in a Haverhill courtroom on Wednesday to face charges of assault by means of a dangerous weapon after he was arrested for threatening an MBTA conductor with a knife.

According to investigators, Eric Foster of Plaistow, N.H. allegedly  threatened an MBTA conductor with a knife just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 9 after the conductor tried to wake him up at the Haverhill Commuter Rail station, FOX 25 reports.

The conductor told police he asked a man, allegedly Foster, to exit the train because Haverhill was the last stop of the line and all passengers must get off the train. He claims Foster got up, pulled out a folding knife, and began waving  it at the conductor. Foster then allegedly challenged him to a fight, at which time he called police and Foster fled, according to FOX.

Police did not find Foster after this first incident.

In a second incident, Foster allegedly attempted to board a train bound for Haverhill at North Station around 8:30 p.m. The same conductor refused to let Foster board the train, and immediately called Transit police.  Foster then threatened the conductor for a second time before fleeing.
