Astoria woman raped by neighbor: NYPD
A 22-year-old woman was raped in her bed in Astoria early this morning, police reported.
Cops said the attack occurred at 5 a.m. Wednesday.
The victim woke up to a man pressing a knife to her back, who then raped her, police said.
Police said the victim hit her attacker with a remote control, and that her father also tried to fight off the unclothed assailant, who jumped out a window.
The victim’s father told police he recognized his daughter’s attacker as a neighbor acquainted with the family. Responding officers followed a trail of blood to a nearby building and found Andres Santana, 30, who the victim’s father identified as the attacker.
Santana is being charged with rape, performing a criminal sex act, burglary, criminal mischief and menacing, police said.
The victim told police that the man has been climbing into her room through a window and raping her since she was 14 or 15 years old.
