Police search for gunman who shot and killed man on Boylston Street
A man was shot and killed on Boylston Street in the Copley Square area in Back Bay late Thursday evening.
Authorities are now searching for the escaped gunman. According to Police Superintendent William Gross, the suspect is described as a black man in a blue Hawaiian shirt who ran onto Clarendon Street towards Tremont Street, WBZ reports.
The victim, a man in his late 20s or 30s, was shot in the chest around 11 p.m. near the popular 500 block of Boylston by Trinity Church. Officers found the victim lying in the middle of the street. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he later died.
As police continue to search for the unnamed gunman, officers are planning to search local businesses and apartment complexes for possible video surveillance footage, Gross said.
According to the Boston Globe, a number of uniformed officers, detectives and at least one K-9 unit scoured the benches near the water fountain and a black compact car with a flat tire parked at the scene.
The shooting does not appear to be random, police said.
