Celebrity chef Mario Batali’s planned Fort Point restaurant is definitely not happening.

After a recent vague tweet last weekend by Batali, the acclaimed chef posted a more detailed update online Monday night.

“B&B Hospitality Group is saddened to announce that the project called Babbo Pizzeria and Enoteca originally slated for a fourth quarter open date in the exciting Fort Point district in Boston will not come to fruition,” the update said.

Batali has been working on opening an Italian eatery on Summer Street for months and the tweet was disappointing news for many fans.

On Saturday, in response to a Twitter inquiry from a fan, Batali said the restaurant was “not looking good right now” and that he’d keep people posted.

But Batali’s most recent update allows for some hope.

“We will continue to look for the perfect location to serve the exciting and vibrant Boston community,” the update said.

The restaurant was planned for 320 Summer St. in the Fort Point neighborhood. Community groups had said there were meetings scheduled with neighbors to discuss plans for the restaurant back in July.

Like his New York restaurant, the Fort Point eatery was going to be named Babbo Pizzeria and Enoteca and would focus on wood-fired Italian pizzas as well as pasta.

Batali owns several restaurants across the country and world including eateries in New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Singapore. He’s authored multiple cookbooks, starred in shows on the Food Network and currently appears on “The Chew” on ABC.
