The Watertown Police Foundation wants to make a 2014 calendar out of photographs taken during the April 19 manhunt for accused Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

The Watertown Police Foundation announced Wednesday it is looking for “positive” photos that “highlight the valor” of police in the Boston suburb, which was locked down as authorities went door to door in search of Tsarnaev. The terror suspect was eventually discovered hiding in a dry-docked boat.

“While we will never be able to put into words our gratitude for what our police did, we can try to let the photos from that night in April speak for themselves. There were signs of gratitude everywhere in town, signs of relief, expressions of overwhelming respect for our officers,” foundation board member Steve Messina said in a statement.

An Oregon woman created a petition on Change.org asking that the foundation refrain from publishing a 2014 calendar as it may “tamper with a future jury” in Tsarnaev’s trial.

“These pictures are part of a highly sensitive, ongoing investigation. We believe this could possibly tamper with a future jury,” wrote Heather Stowbridge, of Reedsport.  ”These are pictures of a 19 yr.old kid, who is technically innocent until proven guilty. It is distasteful, and something that should be seriously thought out before making a final decision. Please for the sake of all of the victims families, and all those emotionally injured by these photos, do not print this.”

The petition only had two supporters as of Sunday afternoon.

Proceeds from the sale of the $13 calendars will go to the Watertown Police Foundation. The deadline for photo submissions is Sept. 30, according to the group’s website.

The sale of Watertown Strong police T-shirts has raised nearly $100,000 for various Watertown Police projects, according to the group.
