Technically, only one of the 400 wealthiest Americans included in the Forbes annual list actually lives in the City of Brotherly Love. But we’re still counting the three others who inhabit our suburbs, anyway.

The Philadelphia-area’s top earner, Mary Alice Dorrance Malone, granddaughter of the founder of Campbell’s Soup and the company’s largest individual shareholder, came in at No. 161 with a net worth of $3.1 billion.

Malone, who lives in Coatesville, increased her wealth by $1 billion since March 2009.

Michael Rubin, a newcomer to the top 400, came in at 243.

The Bryn Mawr resident made his fortune, all $2.3 billion, with his online retail outlets including sports merchandise retailer Fanatics.

Richard Hayne, our lone moneymaker who actually lives in Philly, made his fortune with retail giant Urban Outfitters.

With a net worth of $1.8 billion, Hayne, who started his company in West Philadelphia in 1970, is the 314th wealthiest American.

Hayne, Forbes says, has increased his wealth by $700 million just in the last year.

Richard Yuengling, the Pottsville beer mogul, came up the rear at 371.

With his $1.4 billion, the fifth-generation owner of America’s oldest operating brewery, D.G. Yuengling & Son, founded in 1829, sells more than 2.5 million barrels of beer a year and pulls in sales over $400 million.
