Methuen lottery winner up for $100,000-a-year prize
A Methuen woman who won $10 million last year on a scratch-off ticket has had another stroke of good luck: She’s a finalist in the New Hampshire Lottery’s $100,000-a-year Set for Life competition.
Helen Giarrusso, 79, won the $10 million last year on the Diamond Millionaire scratch game, The Eagle Tribune reports. Now, she’s up for a prize of $100,000 a year, or a $250,000 lump sum.
“I don’t know what millions are,” Giarrusso told The Eagle-Tribune then. “But it feels good because I can take care of my family.”
Giarrusso, who scored a winning ticket on her first try playing Set for Life, purchased the ticket at McKinnon’s Market in Salem, N.H. She will be sending her nephew in her place to the drawing on Sunday, which will take place at the Sylvania 300 Race.
