A law enforcement source reported that one of the wanted suspects in Sunday’s biker gang assault on the West Side Highway turned himself in at the 113th precinct Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect, formerly identified by the NYPD simply by his white motorcycle, is named Allen Edwards, the source said.

Edwards is one of the two suspects police were looking for in connection with the assault on a man driving an SUV with his wife and two-year-old daughter inside.

The assault occurred after an approximately five minute chase that was captured on video, kicked off when the SUV driver, Alexian Lien, hit a motorcyclist who stopped short in front of his car. The group of 20 to 30 bikers the motorcyclist was with started to attack Lien’s car and Lien sped off, running over some of the bikers in the process. Police said the bikers had slashed Lien’s tires, causing them to go flat, which is why Lien was forced to exit the highway and pull over in front of 610 West 178th Street.

Police charge that Edwards was one of the two bikers initially responsible for the penultimate assault that occurred around 2 p.m. on Sunday in front of 610 West 178th Street. One of the bikers smashed Lien’s driver’s side window repeatedly with his helmet, while another, suspected to be Edwards, punched Lien’s car multiple times. Police said they then pulled Lien out of the car and beat him up in front of his wife and two-year-old daughter.

The NYPD was offering a $2,000 reward for the arrest and indictment of the two men. The second suspect is still at large, police said.

One of the bikers involved is reportedly paralyzed and in a coma with severe injuries to his heart, lungs and ribs. His wife told the press that he was trying to help another injured biker when Lien ran him over.
