Reports allege that an undercover cop was not only witness to the West Side Highway biker gang assault, but may have actually taken part, contrary to earlier claims.

NYPD spokesman John McCarthy previously confirmed a detective had been placed on modified duty, turning in his gun and badge pending an investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau.

But new video has allegedly surfaced, showing that an undercover detective who was at the scene of the biker mob assault at West 178th Street on Sept. 29 punched and shattered the rear window of the SUV, contrary to earlier claims that he had no part in the attack.

The detective has been criticized for not notifying his superiors he had been at the scene of the assault until days after the incident took place.

NBC New York reported that the video shows the detective smashing the rear window of the SUV, but riding off before the actual assault ensued. Sources reportedly told NBC the detective has not been truthful with his superiors.

In response to a query about the new video footage, McCarthy maintained that the investigation into the undercover detective is ongoing.
