The Boston City Council will have some familiar faces returning to chambers in City Hall.

At-large Councilors Ayanna Pressley and Stephen Murphy won re-election. Former councilor and 2009 mayoral candidate Michael Flaherty won his spot back on the council as an at-large councilor. Joining them will be Michelle Wu, of the South End, who was elected to her first term.

Women were the top vote-earners in the at-large race, with Pressley and Wu each earning about 18 percent of the vote. Flaherty received about 16.5 percent of the vote, and Murphy earned about 13.5 percent with 99 percent of precincts reporting.

Also new to the council will be Timothy McCarthy of Hyde Park, who was elected as city councilor for District 5. The district is currently represented by Councilor Rob Consalvo, who had an unsuccessful run for mayor and did not seek re-election to the council.

Josh Zakim will also serve as a first-term councilor after he won his District 8 race. He will replace Michael Ross, who did not seek re-election to the council and also unsuccessfully ran for mayor.

The rest of the district council races featured incumbents who all won re-election.
