Marine killed in Camden trying to break up fight

A former Marine was shot and killed  outside a bar at Second and Spruce streets in Camden this weekend while trying to break up a fight.

Timothy Loper Jr., 27, of Clementon, N.J., was killed in the parking lot to 20 Horse Tavern, where he had attended a friend’s birthday party, about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has released video surveillance footage from the bar of a person wanted in connection with Loper’s death. The man, described as bearded and muscular, is wearing a sweater in the video.

Loper reportedly served in Afghanistan.
