A group of Wellesley firefighters are heading to Hollywood.

The team, who rescued a golden retriever named Crosby that had plunged through the ice on the Charles River last month, will appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to be recognized for their daring rescue.

The announcement was made on the Wellesley Fire Department’s Facebook page. The show will be broadcast on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

“I am going to have to post this very slowly to fully allow it to sink in….On Tuesday the 14th, four of our Wellesley Firefighter members will be on the Ellen Degeneres Show!!! One more time to allow it to marinate for a bit,” the post reads. “Four of our Wellesley Firefighter members will be on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday the 14th.”

The trip to the TV screen isn’t the only acclaim the firefighters have received for their heroism. They also received the Compassionate Fire Department Award from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

“The compassion and heroism shown by the Wellesley Fire Department is an inspiration,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman in a statement last month. “Wellesley is very fortunate to have first responders who are ready to protect and serve both residents and their beloved animal companions.”
