London gets hit with ‘poonami’
Many Londoners are having an unpleasant night after a water pipe burst and flooded Clapham Road in Kennington, South London. Though Thames Water tweeted that the water was clean, the murky color led Londoners refer it to it as #londonpoo and #poonami on Twitter. Many initially believed it was sewage water.
A clean water pipe (not sewage) has burst causing flooding to Clapham Road, South London. Engineers are on the scene. Sorry for disruption

A London Fire Brigade spokesman told the Telegraph that four fire engines were on scene and referred to it as “a major incident.”
A police officer told the Mirror it was “stinky sewage” and other people said they saw the water trickle into people’s basements. But a Thames Water spokesperson said the water was discolored because it had mixed with silt and mud.
This didn’t stop people from cracking jokes on Twitter about the apoocalypse. Read some of our favorite tweets from London’s stinky situation.
Another piece of irony? Londoners are tweeting that the flood has stopped the Number 2 bus from running.
