Hot ride, hot date? Bike-In Movie in Somerville tonight

There are no backseat make-out sessions at this drive-in theater presentation, but moviegoers can feel good about themselves for not wasting money on gas to get there.

Tonight, the Papercut Zine Library in Somerville is hosting a Bike-in Movie Screening of “Over the Edge,” a Matt Dillon cult-classic, and cyclists can peddle on up to the site on Pearl Street and sit cozy on their one-speeds.

There will be a pre-screening picnic on the premises, because a concession stand rife with soda and popcorn is less than likely at this two-wheeled-vehicle-only movie event.

The Papercut Zine Library is home to volumes of independently produced media from around the region, dealing with everything from politics to author’s personal memoirs.

Organized by the Zine’s librarian staff, the movie is a 1979 flick in which “a bunch o’ kids on bikes kick total ass while challenging the dysfunctional and oppressive structures of their community,” according to the event’s website.
