Man stabs friend’s dog to death after argument in Overbrook
A man stabbed a friend’s dog to death in the Overbrook section of West Philadelphia yesterday evening following an altercation with its owner, according to the Pennsylvania SPCA.
The owner was keeping two dogs at his uncle’s home on the 5500 block of West Jefferson Street when he and a friend got into an argument over one of them, a female pit bull, said spokeswoman Wendy Marano. The friend then allegedly stabbed the dog repeatedly with a butcher knife until it was dead.
Police officers took the suspect, who was covered in blood, into custody. They also recovered a blood-covered butcher knife.
PSPCA humane law enforcement removed the second dog from the home because it was in poor condition, Marano said.
