UPDATED Body found at Penn’s Landing
A body was discovered at Penn’s Landing this morning, police said.
The man, 65, was found lying in the grass of 201 South Columbus Boulevard at 8:47 a.m., according to a spokeswoman.
He was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no signs of anything suspicious, police said.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine a cause of
death. The man may have been killed by last night’s extreme
temperatures, which reached a low of 17 degrees.
In another weather-related incident, police found a woman in her late 60s to early 70s unconscious on Percy and Shunk streets at 3:33 a.m. She was taken to Methodist Hospital in extremely critical condition with possible hypothermia.
She was later identified by her son and is now listed in critical but stable condition. It is unclear how she ended up on the street.
