Axel Barreto, sought for quadruple Juniata Park shooting, arrested
A U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Axel Barreto, 30, into custody shortly before 10 p.m. this evening at a Bensalem motel and turned him over to Philadelphia police.
The stepfather of three boys was wanted in connection with a quadruple shooting of a group of his stepsons’ rivals that killed two teens and left one critically injured with little chance of survival.
Barreto is suspected by police of having fired into a car carrying a group of seven teenagers, who had driven to the 1500 block of East Luzerne Street in Juniata Park for a prearranged fistfight with Barreto’s stepsons.
Instead, they were met by a Hispanic male who investigators believe to be Barreto. The man allegedly fired 10 rounds into the car indiscriminately.
Earlier today, police said their main priority was getting the Barreto off the street. “Right now, he’s a person of interest, but we feel very strongly that he was involved,” Homicide Capt. James Clark said.
