Police ID pregnant woman strangled in Germantown, teen killed at N. Philly playground (UPDATED)

Kharee Tillmon, 18.

Police have identified two people whose bodies were discovered in two separate incidents yesterday.

Pregnant woman Atiya Perry, 24, was found strangled to death in her residence on the 800 block of East Chelten Avenue in East Germantown shortly before 2:30 p.m. Police said further investigation revealed that Perry had been killed during a domestic dispute around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators took into custody Roysce Haynes, 28, who also lived inside the home and is believed to have been romantically involved with Perry. Haynes is charged with murder and criminal homicide of an unborn child. He was arraigned this morning and is being held without bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 26.

No stranger to the legal system, Haynes was arrested in February of 2004 and charged with aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and possessing an instrument of crime. He pleaded guilty in December of 2004 to aggravated
assault and was sentenced to a maximum of 23 months in prison and a
minimum of two years’ probation, court documents show.

Haynes pleaded guilty to assault in a second case last September and was sentenced to 18 months of probation, according to court records. It is believed that his probation officer discovered Perry’s body.

In a separate incident, a teen was gunned down at the Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center playground on the 2200 block of West Huntingdon Street in North Philadelphia shortly before 6 p.m.

Police said Kharee Tillmon, 18, of the 2200 block of Oakdale Street, was shot in the chest and died a short time later at Temple University Hospital.

According to the man’s Facebook page, he was studying culinary arts and music production at the Community College of Philadelphia and had recently become engaged.

Authorities have not yet released a motive or made any arrests in Tillmon’s death.
