PHOTOS: Eight people injured after Hummer crashes on 23rd St. during police chase

The scene at Seventh Ave. & West 23rd St.

Eight people were injured — four of them seriously — when a Hummer crashed near 23rd and Seventh Avenue this afternoon.

According to A Great Big City, cops tried to pull over the driver when the Hummer was spotted going the wrong direction down Sixth Avenue at around 2:15 p.m. The site also reports the Hummer was stolen from Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club on 25th Street — the site of President Obama’s fundraiser tonight.

The driver of the Hummer took off, eventually colliding with a taxi and an MTA bus on 23rd St. The vehicle also damaged the Rub BBQ restaurant at 208 West 23rd St.

The driver was reportedly arrested at the scene.

According to the FDNY, eight people were injured in the incident. Four of the victims had serious injuries, while the other four sustained minor injuries. One person refused treatment. The rest of the victims were transported to Beth-Israel Hospital or Bellevue.

The NYPD was not releasing further information this afternoon.
